Pilaster App Privacy Policy

Effective: [DATE OF PUBLICATION]

Pilaster: Tile Dock (“Pilaster”) is made by Kenneth Haynes and CyberCloudAI.tech (Melbourne, Florida, USA).

The short version

Pilaster does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. It has no analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking code, and it does not connect to the internet.

What stays on your Mac

To work, Pilaster keeps a small settings file in its own storage area on your Mac (its App Sandbox container). The file contains:

  • the items you pinned (file and folder locations, and Shortcut names)
  • the permissions you granted to those items (macOS security-scoped bookmarks)
  • if you chose “Read My Desktop List…”, a read-only permission to macOS’s list of your desktops and the number of desktops last seen
  • the apps you chose to hide
  • your display preferences

When a script from Pilaster’s Scripts folder runs from a tile, its output is saved to a log file in the same container so you can review it. None of this leaves your Mac, and none of it is available to us.

Permissions

  • Files and folders: Pilaster opens only the files and folders you pin, or the ones you choose in an Open dialog.
  • Your desktop list (optional, off by default): if you click “Read My Desktop List…” and allow it, Pilaster reads macOS’s file listing your desktops (com.apple.spaces.plist in your Library ‘ Preferences folder) to count them. It only reads that one file, on your Mac, and never changes it or sends anything anywhere. “Remove Access” in Settings removes the permission.
  • Keyboard Control (optional, off by default): Pilaster asks for no permission when you install or first open it. Only if you turn on Keyboard Control (click + to open Settings, then Desktops & Keyboard) does it ask macOS for permission to press keyboard shortcuts. macOS lists that permission under Privacy & Security → Accessibility. You can turn Keyboard Control off in Pilaster, or remove Pilaster from that list, at any time. With Keyboard Control on, Pilaster presses keys only when you ask, for two things:
    • to switch desktops: it presses the macOS shortcut “Switch to Desktop N” (Control-1, Control-2, …) when you click a desktop button or choose Calibrate Desktops;
    • to quit an app: it sends Command-Q to that one app when you choose Quit from its tile.
Pilaster does not monitor, record, or read your keystrokes.
  • Force Quit: choosing Force Quit opens Activity Monitor, where you pick the app and confirm. Pilaster presses no keys for this.

Your own scripts and Shortcuts

If you put a script in Pilaster’s Scripts folder, or install the optional Shortcuts helper, it runs on your Mac exactly as written. Anything that script or Shortcut does, including connecting to the internet, is under your control and is not part of Pilaster.

Third parties

We share no data with anyone, because we collect none. Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymous App Store statistics (such as download counts) under Apple’s own privacy policy, and only if you have agreed to share them with developers.

Deleting your data

Deleting Pilaster removes its settings. To remove them by hand, delete these folders:

  • ~/Library/Containers/tech.cybercloudai.Pilaster
  • ~/Library/Application Scripts/tech.cybercloudai.Pilaster

There is nothing for us to delete on our side.

Children

Pilaster is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children.
